The Belton Chalet was completed in 1910, which is also the same year Glacier Park was dedicated. Being the first railroad hotel, Belton Chalet welcomed guests arriving by train.
Later, as the trains rolled through and the trees grew large, the Belton Chalet fell into disrepair. The record snowfall of 1997 collapsed two roofs and buckled two floors. The spring of that following year Yellow Bay residents Cas Still and Andy Baxter began their award winning restoration. The Belton Chalet has been designated a National Historic Landmark.
Now restored and open.
